Last week we began showcasing the residents of The Enclave. This is the second installment and includes the interview with our first homebuyer in our community. I’d like to introduce Kimberly and Charles Russell, who actually purchased our model home, before it was finished. Since that time, they have become full-time residents.
The Russell’s were given the same questions given to their neighbors, the Morgans, which we posted last week in Part 1 of this series. Judging from their response to our interview questions, I think it’s safe to assume they’re thrilled with their decision to move to the Blue Ridge area and their beautiful home in The Enclave.
Be sure to scroll to the end to see more great images of this stunning home.
BURT: Where did you come from and what attracted you to the Blue Ridge area?
KIM AND CHARLES: We are from Buckhead, Atlanta and got tired of the daily traffic and busy, hectic lifestyle we were living.
BURT: What made you decide to build a home in Blue Ridge?
KIM AND CHARLES: We had never been to Blue Ridge until we started researching “Tiny Homes” and came across The Enclave. We were used to the NC Mountains where we have family but wanted to still be in GA. We started looking in the area and soon we were coming up every weekend. It wasn’t long before we knew Blue Ridge would be a great place to have our new home!
BURT: Why did you choose to build instead of purchase an existing home?
KIM AND CHARLES: We walked into the model that was currently under construction at The Enclave and it was everything we wanted in our new home. With everything it was offering we knew we must buy it and we are so glad we did!
BURT: How did you discover The Enclave?
KIM AND CHARLES: Watching HGTV and all the Tiny House Shows that interested us lead us to research all the areas in north GA experiencing the Tiny House movement. However, we wanted a smaller footprint, not a tiny home on wheels, but in a permanent location and Google was a great tool that lead us to The Enclave!
BURT: Why did you decide to choose The Enclave?
KIM AND CHARLES: The Enclave offered everything we wanted, a not so tiny home, but one with exactly the right amount of space for smaller living. Just far enough away to feel secluded but very close to downtown Blue Ridge with all the comforts we need.
BURT: What attracted you to downsize to a smaller home?
KIM AND CHARLES: We had already downsized from a 2400SF home in the suburbs of Atlanta to move to a 1200SF condo in Buckhead. After doing both for awhile it was an easy transition to an 820SF home. We even have an extra bathroom that our condo did not have!
BURT: What are the advantages of small home living?
KIM AND CHARLES: There are many advantages to living in our smaller home! I can clean it in under an hour and I have two long hair cats and one dog, so fur control is easier! 😊 Another biggie is smaller home, smaller mortgage which allows for more important things in life!
BURT: Are the recreational opportunities nearby important to you?
KIM AND CHARLES: There are tons, we have already visited many beautiful waterfalls and can’t wait to explore the lakes and hiking trails around the area.
BURT: How would you rate the following about your experience at The Enclave?
○ Noise level
○ Beauty
○ Solitude
○ Charm
○ Size of lots
○ Homeowner’s Association Rules
○ Building Requirements/Rules
○ Distance to attractions
KIM AND CHARLES: We would rate all these a 10! We were the first to be in The Enclave and at the beginning, we felt so secluded as it was a huge change from the city of Atlanta. It feels like a different world and we love it. Our lot is beautiful, and we can hear the babbling brook at the end of our property that is just so peaceful. Our lot is large enough to be private, but we have enjoyed new houses being built and the wonderful neighbors we have joining us at The Enclave.
BURT:What are some of your favorite restaurants in the area?
KIM AND CHARLES: We have visited many and really like, Chesters, Fighting Town Tavern, Toccoa Riverside Restaurant, Southern Charm and Masseria, just to name a few.
BURT: What are some of your favorite entertainment activities in the area?
We like Copperhead Lodge for food and music, Mercier Orchards for cider tastings and excellent fried pies, Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino in Murphy, NC, and there is a quaint movie theater in Blairsville where we can still see all our movies!
BURT: Please feel free to add anything you like regarding your experience as homeowners in The Enclave.
KIM AND CHARLES: We love being full time residents to The Enclave! The serenity and peacefulness combined with our perfect little farmhouse cabin! Its just a perfect little piece of paradise in a great small town that brings us closer to nature! We couldn’t be happier. 😊
